From Empires to Nation States? : Enduring Legacies and Historical Disjucntures

Call for Abstracts

Millennium is launching a special issue for Volume 51, Issue 3 addressing the historic transition from empires to nation states.

In this special issue we hope to:

  1. Critically assess the continuing legacy of colonialism in international relations and the international sphere.
  2. Reassess the successes and failures of the decolonial moment.
  3. Question the lasting impact of post-colonial national and international institutions.
  4. Revisit and analyse the lasting impact of though emrerging from the post-colonial world.

A Symposium of the contributors will be held in October 2022 at teh London School of Economics(final date tbc) to discuss ideas raised by the work.

Those who would be interested in contributing to the special issue please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words by the 8th of April 2022.

Millennium welcomes contributions from academics of all career levels and regions and is particularly interested in developing the work of early career academics and publishing contributors from the Global South.

If your abstract is selected a first draft of 8000-10000 words should be ready for review by teh end of July.
